Farewell Alfaris! (and a trip to Tohoku)

Alfaris has been with us a visiting student on the KU-STAR program. Today he leaves the lab to return to The University of Melbourne to complete his Master`s. His research has been “Quantifying the environmental and socio-economic impacts of EV-driven policies towards the welfare of communities settling nearby mines in central Sulawesi: A systems dynamics approach”. Interesting and important research given the ongoing push for electric vehicles (EV) to mitigate climate change and local pollutants at the point of use, which has increased the amount of mining, leading to local pollutants and differentiated socio-economic impacts around mine host communities.

We have enjoyed having him with us for a few short weeks. We also hope to see him again in the future!

Best of luck with your ongoing research!
